Detailed Itinerary: 4 Days Ha Giang Motorbike Tours With Easy Riders
DAY 1: Ha Giang – Quan Ba – Du Gia, approx. 120 km drive
After breakfast, we set out on the ‘Road of Happiness,’ driving north out of Ha Giang City. We ascend the Quan Ba mountain pass, enter the Dong Van Geopark, pass the Fairy Hills, and arrive at the Heaven’s Gate. We find our lunch in or near the small town of Tam Son. Following that, we travel deep into the Ha Giang mountains to the picturesque village of Du Gia. We will be staying at the home of an ethnic minority family. We’ll eat dinner and have breakfast with the family. (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the day.)
DAY 2: Du Gia – Meo Vac – (Ma Pi Leng) – Dong Van approx. 110 km drive
We say goodbye to the homestay family and head north, passing through some of the most spectacular mountain passes you’ve ever seen, passing through Meo Vac (where we stop for lunch) and slowly ascending the majestic Ma Pi Leng mountain pass before arriving in Dong Van, Vietnam’s most northern town. If anyone is feeling adventurous, we can climb to the ruins of the French fort for a breathtaking view of the town and its surroundings. Others may enjoy exploring Dong Van’s Old Quarter after a long day on the bike. Stay in the hotel or homestay agreed upon for the tour. Perhaps a Hot Pot for dinner? (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the day.)
DAY 3: Dong Van – Lung Cu – Sa Phin – Yen Minh – Nam Dam, approx 150 km drive
If we wake up on a Sunday in Dong Van, the weekly large local market meets us before or after breakfast. More ethnic minority groups than you can imagine traveled on Saturday, as did people from near and far to do their weekly shopping and gossiping. We then proceed to the North pele. Anyway, Lung Cu is the joking name for Vietnam’s most northern point. We can climb the Lung Cu Flagpole and see China from the top, then head south to Sa Phin and visit the one-hundred-year-old palace of Vuong Chinh Duc, the King of the H’mong people.
We drive down the Stone Highland to Yen Minh for lunch before climbing a mountain pass covered in pine forest and sweeping rice terraces along the way. Down to the Song La river valley until the road takes us to Nam Dam, where we stay with a lovely Dao ethnic minority family and share dinner and breakfast with them. (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the day.)
After breakfast, we go for a walk around the village and may visit the nearby waterfall. Then we go exploring in the Lung Khuy cave. We stop for lunch in Tam Son before exploring a stunningly beautiful side-loop that connects us back to the Road of Happiness and back to Ha Giang City, where the tour concludes. (The day includes breakfast and lunch.)
